The Blood Orange Old Fashioned is a vibrant take on the Old Fashioned, swapping traditional orange peel for the rich, bold flavor of blood orange. This cocktail pairs perfectly with Dorchadas Amber Spiced Rum, creating a complex, satisfying drink that’s both refreshing and familiar.

Ideal for any setting, from elegant dinners to cozy nights at home, the Blood Orange Old Fashioned is a drink that celebrates the finer things in life.

Ingredients:

  • Heaped Bar Spoon of Demerara Sugar
  • 50 ml Dorchadas Amber Spiced Rum
  • Large Slice Blood Orange
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Glass
    Take a mixing glass and put a heaped bar spoon of Demerara sugar in, and add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters, and the juice of a blood orange segment
  2. Mix the Cocktail
    Muddle to create a paste then add several ice cubes and 25ml of rum and stir well. Add another 25ml of rum and a few more ice cubes then stir until all sugar has dissolved.
  3. Serve
    Double strain into a rocks glass filled with large Ice cubes.h
  4. Garnish
    Add a dehydrated orange or blood orange peel for an extra burst of flavor.
